Slavic Pancake Festival at Federation Square
Melbourne will host the largest Slavic Festival in the Southern Hemisphere- MaslenitsaMaslenitsa: Slavic Pancake Festival will take a place on the 2nd of March at Melbourne’s Federation Square. This is the third time that this great cultural event takes place in Melbourne. Organised by the Russian Ethnic Representative Council (RERC) and Serbian Social Service and Support (SSSS), with support and/or funding from Office of Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, City of Melbourne, Federation Square and Embassy of Russian Federation in Australia, the festival is looking to be a must see event for 2013.
From 10 am until 8pm guests will have a unique chance to view dancing and singing performances by folk ensembles, theatrical and circus collectives, art exhibitions, souvenirs fair, participate in a number of cultural Maslenitsa Festival games as well as traditional Slavic treats and drinks. The opening ceremony will commence at 12pm. The event will feature a special guest: Victoria Bolonina a contestant on Australian TV show The Voice.
