Resources Partnership Program

The Resources Partnership Program supports aged care organisations to embed 10 key diversity resources into their learning management systems, learning and development programs, and internal communication campaigns.

How to join the program:

  1. Review the 10 resources.
  2. Use the form at the bottom of this page to select the resources you’d like to use.
  3. Complete the form and agree to our terms and conditions.
  4. We’ll contact you to discuss your needs.
  5. We’ll supply you with links, images, text and SCORM files.

The Resources Partnership Program is open to Australian Government-funded and subsidised aged care organisations.

 

1. Interactive Diversity Webinar Series

Description
The Interactive Diversity Webinar Series aim to engage staff working within the aged care sector with skills and knowledge to work effectively with diverse older people, their families, carers and advocates. The webinars cover a range of topics relevant to culturally inclusive care and practice. They‘re designed in response to topics requested from aged care sector staff.

2. Inclusive Service Standards

Description

The Inclusive Service Standards were developed to assist aged care providers to become better equipped at meeting the diverse needs of diverse consumers. They provide a framework to support organisations on their journey to becoming truly inclusive for all consumers.

The Standards are designed to embed a systematic and holistic approach across an organisation that recognises and responds to the breadth of consumer diversity, where all consumers feel valued and respected and have their individual needs met. The Inclusive Service Standards guide organisations through articulating their commitment to inclusive services, developing systems that support inclusive services and ensuring there is capacity to deliver inclusive services.

The Consumer Voice short video encourages older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to ask for what they need from aged care services.

The video has been translated into:

5. Ageing in Australia: The Immigrant Experience

Description:

This is a unique educational resource for aged care and related service providers to enhance the delivery of culturally inclusive aged care. The videos feature 4 people from different migrant backgrounds approaching the later stages of life. They share their migration experiences, hopes and reflections on living in Australia as they age.

Capturing life stories and acknowledging people’s individual life experiences is key to the provision of culturally inclusive aged care. The videos are a valuable discussion starter for staff.

6. Everyone has a story: Delivering culturally inclusive care

Format: Interactive Learning Modules on the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission online learning platform – Alis

How to include: You can sign up staff to the Alis platform (free for Australian Government-funded aged care providers)

Duration: approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete

Description:

This interactive training module helps aged care workers to provide tailored care that meets each consumer's unique social, cultural, spiritual and linguistic needs. This module is available to learners in care and clinical roles. It’s recommended for everybody who engages directly with consumers in their care.

Description:

One size does not fit all aims to promote discussions around diversity in aged care. It supports the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse older people and their families and carers. It asks the question: "How can we create a more inclusive aged care system so that everyone has a fair go!?" As one size does not fit all…does it?!

The podcast shares the insights of experts and industry leaders working in aged care, practical advice around diversity and inclusion and stories to inspire. The guests on the podcast have years of experience in aged care, diversity and leadership.

The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing's website gives an overview of all The Centre's resources. The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing supports aged care providers with the latest Australian Government information, resources, tools, training, mentoring, consultation and relationship building. The Centre has over 25 years of experience supporting aged care providers to address the needs of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Centre is funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care under the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program and supported by Benetas.
