Results of the online survey, November 2024

The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing (The Centre), recognising the importance of enhancing support at home care providers with a new set of reforms that will commence in July 2025, and addressing the unique challenges of caring for seniors from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, collaborated with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) Alliance to investigate these issues in greater depth.

NARI and the PICAC Alliance acknowledged a significant gap in knowledge regarding this area and agreed to collaborate with The Centre in the development of an online survey, aimed at understanding these challenges from the perspective of home care providers.

To inform the survey design and explore relevant themes, The Centre conducted a series of small focus groups in August 2024. Subsequently, the survey was officially launched on September 18, 2024, and remained open for a period of 50 days.

This initiative provided valuable insights, and we are now planning to refine and enhance the survey for implementation in 2025.

We extend our gratitude to all organisations involved in the consultation and survey and invite the community to review the findings and support ongoing efforts to improve care for CALD seniors in home care/CHSP settings.
